One-click vs manual
Hostinger offers an n8n Docker template, plus a separate queue-mode template for scaling executions across workers (Hostinger n8n VPS). On any other VPS, run n8n in Docker behind Caddy or nginx with HTTPS. n8n receives webhooks, so unlike a chat agent it does need an inbound HTTPS port.
Checklist
- Put n8n behind a reverse proxy with HTTPS; never expose port 5678 directly.
- Use a strong owner password and keep user management on.
- Back up the n8n data volume (workflows and credentials) off the server.
- Pin the image version and update deliberately — workflows can break across major versions.
Pairing n8n with an AI agent
A common setup is n8n for scheduled, deterministic workflows and an agent (Hermes or OpenClaw) for the fuzzy parts. They fit on one 8 GB server. Use the cost calculator to size both together.
